KAPA`A - The Waimea Menehune girls varsity basketball squad pulled out a dramatic 36-34 road victory over the Kapa`a Warriors Saturday evening at the Bernice Hundley Gymnasium to clinch the Kaua`i Interscholastic Federation first round title. With the win, the Menehune improved to 3-0 while the Warriors fell to 1-2 in league play. The Kaua`i Red Raiders (0-2) travel to the Clem Gomes Gymnasium on Tuesday, April 10th, to take on the Menehune in the next regularly scheduled prep contest. In the evening's opening junior varsity contest, Kapa`a improved to 2-1 with a hard-fought 36-29 decision over the improving Menehune (0-3). The idle JV Red Raiders take a 2-0 record into Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. game at Waimea.
